Being an Asian-American female engineer has a list of disadvantages in the STEM field due to the prerequisites minorities have to complete in order to get to the starting line. Others have warned me from when I was a child to when I received my college degree that people may not take me seriously due to my age, background, and gender – however I’ve never felt that way at Econolite.- Iris La Engineer Mobility5 years of service
Being able to work with innovative minds and technology allows me to strengthen my transportation foundation to improve systems across the country. The teams I’ve worked with have always shown their upmost support and continue to strengthen my thought process to develop solutions to meet the needs of others.
As an undergraduate student about to walk the stage, I wanted to have a real world experience working in the transportation industry. We spoke of future projects, my roles in the team, what I would learn, and all of the challenge that could strengthen my foundation – at that moment I felt motivated and excited to hopefully be a part of such an inspirational team.
I started off my career at Econolite as an ITS Intern while I was still a student After graduating, I transitioned to a full-time position as an ITS Engineer I, then eventually ITS Engineer II for the Project Delivery team at Econolite Systems. I’m currently working as an engineer for the Mobility Support team.”

I am a recent college graduate and previously interned at a nearby city. I had the opportunity to join Econolite’s engineering team as a Software Quality Assurance Intern. I was welcomed to Econolite with purpose-driven work culture, not to mention an outgoing and supportive team. Two months after graduation, I advanced to a full-time Technical Support Engineer through a smooth transition. Econolite fosters a work-life balance second to none, promoting professional growth and endless learning experiences.”- Timothy Brevoort Technical Support Engineer 1.5 years of service
I started Econolite as an intern. I obtained my internship through the organization STEM Advantage. I interned at Econolite for almost 2 years before I graduated with a bachelor’s in civil engineering and was offered full time employment. As a first-generation Hispanic female earning my degree and position was important to me. Econolite helped me gain an understanding of transportation engineering. I was able to learn and experience so much as an intern that the transition from intern to full time was smooth. There is still much to learn, and I look forward to growing with the company.”- Diana Ramirez 2.5 years of service
